01/07/2024 Poetry from the Cabin
In the evenings I have been reading Raven’s Ruin, by J. A. Andrews. In this book there is an old woman who is always asking “what is it you are afraid of?”. J. A. Andrews does an excellent job of exploring how our fears can influence the way we live. I have been spending some time confessing my own fears to God. Fears of insignificance, fears of failure. As my fears are exposed, raw before God in the open air, I simply wait. In doing so fear is let out, and His love is let in.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear
1 John 4:18a
What is it you are afraid of?
What keeps you up when night grows dim
Speak out your fears, make room for love
Truly make your own confession
With speech shove fear from where it hides
Belief begins with words spoken
Free your heart from chains and lies
See in truth what has been broken
Emptied of Inhabitants
Heart opened, cleaned and swept
Tilled soil ready for new man
Kingdom seeds are laid to rest
Awaiting growth in shining light
Gods glory breathes within your life
