- The Tree #1

Part 1 of 7
The Tree is Planted
The beginning, God, Father, Son, Spirit,
Brooded over chaos, Word in labor,
Preparing creation, a love poem writ
The cosmos acting as poet’s paper.
God’s light shone, gave darkness its boundaries,
He marked out a place for habitation,
Drove back the waters from Earth’s nurseries,
God’s countenance brought forth vegetation.
He wrote great lights upon His parchment,
Penned sea life and birds into existence,
The Word created beasts, vast assortment,
Creation, a garden poem, in essence.
God created man in His own likeness,
Garden poem a gift, God’s loving kindness.Read the whole series at The Tree Series.

Part 2 of 7
The Tree Cut Down
The tree of life grew tall, broad and bore fruit
As Man trusts God, a righteous friendship blessed
The two mankind with God, in love’s pursuit
Tending the garden, stewarding all fleshun clothed and shameless blazing in bright light Ruling, leading in fruitful working joy
Until the snake did speak distrustful lies
The tree cut down, relationship destroyedThose who had dwelled below its great wide bows
Who were the muse of God’s stupendous wealth
Stand by the stump in shame their new death shroud
In pride and mistrust they have found their deathWind blows the garden trembles footsteps close
Mankind stands in new itchy fig leaf clothes - The Tree #3

Part 3 of 7
The Stump Flowers
Still standing, itching in their woven shame,
Hiding from the grace of their Creator,
The Word calls out to His children by name,
They come like beaten dogs in behavior. They point fingers and blame one another,
Savage dogs fighting over God’s love,
Love freely gave to be shared forever,
Now stand savage beasts who once imaged GodHe is not unkind as He rips away,
Those foolish coverings of nakedness,
He exposes each their deceitful way,
Providing skins to hide their brokenness. That tree will not be lost forever,
Even then the dead stump flowered. - The Tree #4

Part 4 of 7
The Tree Waits
That tree did bloom across the narrative
In the father’s trees, in Moses’s staff
The tabernacle was comparative
Art evoked the Poets great epigraphIn the temple and its cedars tree walls
In contemplation growing beside streams
As prophets rested on the Savior’s call
As the wise perceived what God’s word did meanNo, the tree of life was never undone
Just out of reach of the striving of man
Beyond the reach of broken condition
Waiting for the one who fulfills the planThe dormant tree always there, tree of life
To be awakened by the blood of Christ - The Tree #5

Part 5 of 7
The Tree Watered
The rod sprouted and grew up as a child
As a carpenter, he built with his hands
The meaningful middle of the Bible
As God, he began to build the new landThe good man was struck down, dressed in purple
Crowned with thorns, as men ate good and evil
Power-hungry vultures then did circle
The jealousy of his life was lethalThe tree of life that once had been cut down
Now worked with man’s tools, made into a cross
and raises up the man who was so crowned
Those there saw the moment when all was lossWater and blood flood the roots of the tree
The meaning of the thing not yet perceived - The Tree #6

Part 6 of 7
The Tree Grows
The tree grew, blood and water made it new
Its deep roots crashed through the stone-hewn grave A place carved out to hide death from mans view
Majestic living tree through death was raisedSon rose up with the sun, the dawning day
Once again, darkness was shown its boundaries
The chaos of human history held at bay
The kingdom pushed back the sea of quandariesThe soil long prepared for the planting
It brought forth much fruitful vegetation
The one on whom all our hopes were hanging
Jesus the seed for God’s holy nationThe tree grows it spreads its thick green foliage
A blessing to all who rest beneath it - The Tree #7

Part 7 of 7
The City of Trees
A time is coming, it is drawing near
When what was hidden will be revealed
The cosmic tree city will then appear
Holy of holies, garden unsealedFruitful trees line the great river of life
Wealth and beauty, all description defies
No need for sun, for God is our light
This, by Jesus, the architect’s designEternity to grow faith, hope, and love
As we serve God and work in His great home
Mankind abiding in the love they’re of
Love writ down in His great creation poemHe created man to be His children
His great poem, a gift, our inheritance
