Poetry from the Cabin 01/18/2024
Magnificence
Rock slides, fears rise, trees die
My part is dark, is stark
With earth’s impermanence
Shifting, drifting, sifting
My time—a line in rhyme
Of insignificance
Heroes, oh no, not so
Pretend, upend, descend
Below indifference
My feet—ground sinks beneath
My plans, like sand, in fan
I never can advance
Winds blow, trees grow, true stone
And stand—mountain, so grand
Majestic countenance
Called up, rise up, run up
To top, aloft, and stop
And see the great distance
Heaven—curtain does rend
Lying, blinding, hiding
Within my indolence
Up here, so near—drop sheer
Vision, risen, listen
On love so mountainous
On wings, I sing, bells ring
In Him, trust Him, with Him
In His magnificence
