Poetry from the Cabin — 02/06/2024
This poem is the distillation of my own thoughts while reading Walking on Water by Madeleine L’Engle. It is a wonderful book about spirituality and creativity.
Leaning In
Wait, lean in and listen
Standing over chasm
Without but yet within
Coaxing out the hidden
Fear not the blankest page
For it is not a cage
To hold and keep in place
As taxidermied face
Here are rivers flowing
Under breezes blowing
Many roads are going
Deepening and growing
Imaginative play
Peers out beyond the gray
To colors’ full display
And gives a glimpse of day
Intentionally waiting
And participating
Even co-creating
Glimpse of heaven painting
Now push into your art
By taking time apart
Believe it’s time to start
By pouring out your heart
Unless you trust and try
Accomplishment runs dry
And words will never fly
From chasm into light
