Poetry from the Cabin 01/25/2024
A poem about sanctification.
That I would move beyond these limitations
Dysfunctions that do try and keep me close
These boundaries set by my imperfections
That separate my dreams from real hope
Interior hovel in which I dwell(1)
Dim candle light illuminate whole world
And darkness thus determines once for all
How far this ship can go with sails furled(2)
And stay within the sphere of candle fall
That I would open up and let light in
Or better yet burn down this prison cell
The fires that reveal who I am
And blow away the ash on down to hell
Then trembling to stand before the king
His glory bright I am made free to dream
(1)In contrast to The Interior Castle, a book by Terisa of Avila
(2)An allusion to, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.” By Poet William Ernest Henley (1849–1903) From Immortal Invictus
