Mark 1:12-13 using Matthew 4:1-11 as the primary text
I have waited in the desert
Far more than forty days
To finally meet this man
To challenge him face to face
With his weak and silly flesh
I will drag him down to hell
Just the way I deceived
The man Adam when he fell
Jesus in Prayer
He was on his knees in prayer
He was singing many songs
He was weak in flesh
But In God’s spirit he was strong
I crept out of hiding
Creeping up behind the man
I smelled his human flesh
A tender morsel as a lamb
“Are you hungry”, i kindly said
Make these stones become bread
Why should the Son of God
Choose to go unfed
Jesus Answered
Man shall not live by bread alone
But by the word of God
He sees my every need
Issues blessings from his throne
I felt my eyes flash anger
But quickly I composed
If not his hunger then perhaps his pride
I’ll offer him, a hunger he surely knows
I took him to the temple pinnacle With great crowds below
“Throw yourself down, The angels won’t let you fall
You will be amazing, the crowd will all see you
Come down from heaven, fly before all”
Jesus looked at those he had come down to save
People, busy about their day
“God’s plan is greater than what I see
I will trust His plan to set men free”
I rise to my greatest height
Flashing beauty that enslaves
“I will make a deal, you worship me
I’ll make you king of those you wish to save
Think of all the good you could do
With all the power of the earth
You could turn this land around
Show men your real worth.”
Jesus squared his shoulders He stood like man before the fall “Be gone, Satan! I worship God
And him only do I serve”
I trembled at his radiance
The terrible image before me
I run from his countenance
It is my doom I’ve seen
