Mark 5:1-20 Poem
My memory is cloudy,
But I’ll tell you what I know,
I was out in the graves,
Cutting myself with stones.
They tell me I was crazy,
I broke the jailer’s chains,
All were scared of me,
Demon possession was my fame.
Well, when that boat landed,
With thirteen men from Galilee,
The Messiah was among them,
He’s the one who set me free.
I was lonely and depressed,
Driven to a desolate place,
Forgotten by my own family,
But it was for me that Jesus came.
Pigs were all around me,
I wallowed in their filth,
The pig keepers kept far from me,
They kept close to their own ilk.
When He landed, I somehow knew,
That He alone could save me,
I ran to Him and fell down,
Please Lord, make these demons leave.
The demons asked for mercy,
They asked Him to let them fly,
He said, A thousand pigs
Are less valuable than I.
I came to my senses,
With the herdsmen looking on,
But no longer was their livestock,
The entire herd was gone.
I begged to come with Him,
But He sent me home,
And now I proclaim Him,
Everywhere I go.
