Quiet, hold your tongue,
Wait for God to guide with love,
As a snake waits for its prey,
As the dove blesses the day.
Bide your time as He leads,
Speak kindly with ease,
In its stillness, the snake teaches,
Mimic the dove’s gentle speeches.
Foolishness will be God’s prey,
Victim of words gently said,
Swallowed up
By those who wait,
Trusting God,
He will save.
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Matthew 10:16 KJV
